What is a circle?
"Circle" comprises all the businesses and vendors in a region and the users will be able to access their services on the basis of their location. For each of these circles, there is a "Circle Promoter (CP)" who onboard these local entrepreneurs and acts as a bridge between them and eSamudaay. CPs are responsible to nurture this local community of sellers and assist in fulfilling their technical and logistical requirements by providing them eSamudaay's technology and platform.
Concept
Inconsistent Store Status: Merchants must inform Circle Promoter (CP) to update their store status (open/close) on the app. However, emergencies lead to instances where merchants forget to notify CP, resulting in open status, causing significant order cancellations and business loss.
Problem Statement
01
Dive In
To understand the flow and the problems faced by the merchants during the process, I mapped out all the cases which leads to order cancellation for different duration of time.
02
I talked with the merchants along with my product manager to understand the problems they're facing with the store timings. We took into account their personal problem areas regarding the cancelation of orders that they have encountered, giving us valuable information on the aspects that need to be potentially added or fixed.
Listening to our target audiences
Findings
On the basis of the conversation with the merchants, we landed up on the following insights
Merchants contacts circle promoter everytime when they wants to change their store status.
1
Sometimes circle promoter does not answer the phone calls which leads to loss
in business.
2
During peak hours, it is difficult for merchants to manage huge orders at once due to which some orders get cancel.

I created personas to get better understanding of the needs, behaviors, and goals of different user groups of merchants
Persona
Ramesh is a restaurant owner which is quite famous in mangalore and due to this, he receives a-lot of order during lunch time at around 2 pm. But due to limited staff, the order management becomes very difficult and he has to cancel some order for this. This doesn’t go well on customer end and they start giving the negative reviews to it so Ramesh wants to close the store for an hour to normalise the orders and start receiving it after that so he does not need to cancel any order
Shri is the owner of a grocery shop in Bijnor and due to personal issues, she wants to close her grocery shop for a complete day. So before going for her personal works she wants a feature where she can make her shop offline so that regular customers doesn’t suffer
Suresh is the restaurant owner from Bengaluru, due to high demand on festive session, he wants to keep his shop open for few more hours from his regular closing time so that he can generate more revenues and sales

Putting heads together
With that being said, my product manager provided some rough, general insights based on the conversation we had with the merchants. After some brainstorming session on what direction to go in, we landed on a solution - Giving access to the merchants for their stores timings.
For giving access of store timings to the merchants, I mapped out all the possible solution that will help merchants to handle the store timings in better way possible.
How will it work in the merchant app?
